Austin Community College offers a number of Floral Design classes. Classes range from short one day enrichment courses to a full Floral Design Series. Please see full listing of classes below.

Floral Design Series

Whether you want to arrange flowers for your own personal enjoyment or plan to start a business, our Floral Design Series is for you. The series includes five basic floral design classes. All classes may not be offered every semester.

Meet Our Program Instructors

MJ Schuenemann

MJ has been teaching floral design for four years at ACC. In 2000 she attended the Floral Design Institute in Seattle Washington to become a certified floral designer. She has owned her own floral shop and was a freelance designed for five years. She enjoys attending advance classes in floral design, and competing in floral design competitions.

Debra McAdoo

Debra has been in the floral business since 2000. She gained most of her training through hands on experience at a very successful flower shop here in Austin. She has also attended professional classes taught by top designers in the field to gain more knowledge. Debra owns her own specialty floral company, D.Sweetpea's Custom Floral, which focuses on Weddings, Events, and Special Occasions. She has been a instructor in ACC's Floral Department since 2009 and loves sharing her techniques, tools, and experience with each of her students.

Lori Friedman

Lori is a Floral Educator. She likes to combine her Masters in Education with her floral design training to teach others the art of floral design. It is her passion to bring grace and style into people lives with flowers. Some of her floral experiences include attending the Trim International Floral School, freelancing for several florists, and running a successful flower / landscape company in Colorado.
