Programs Offered
ACC Continuing Education offers classes and programs in industries that need employees. Gateway students can choose from the following ACC Continuing Education classes: Construction Tech, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC and Healthcare. Please click on an icon below for additional information.
Construction
Gateway Construction is a full-day, four-week training program that gives graduates credentials for immediate employment in entry-level construction jobs. Students also participate in the completion of hands-on construction projects. Each group complete smaller projects like picnic tables and benches for local businesses and one larger project to serve Gateway: The Playhouse Project.
Electrical
Gateway Electrical was launched in January 2010 in response to a rising demand for more rapid employment training programs within the construction industry. A component of Gateway Construction Tech, Gateway Electrical provides training for students interested in beginning or enhancing a career as an Apprentice Electrician, Electrician's Helper or entry level Electrical work.
Healthcare
Formerly Gateway Allied Health, Gateway HealthCare trains students for entry-level work as Certified Nurse Aides and Certified Medication Aides. Both programs are currently offered exclusively at the ACC Round Rock Campus. Both programs train students for positions in Long-Term Care, Rehabilitation and Home Health Care.
Plumbing
Gateway Construction Tech, Gateway Plumbing provides training for students interested in beginning or enhancing a career as a Plumber's Helper, general Plumbing work or in entry-level employment with a Plumbing Contractor or General Contractor. Gateway Plumbing also prepares its Graduates for their Apprentice Plumber License, once employed.
How Do I Get Started?
To start the enrollment process, interested students must complete a Gateway Skillpoint Alliance application. Applications are available in person at one of the local Workforce Solutions Centers or the Skillpoint Alliance offices at 201 East 2nd Street, Suite B (corner of East 2nd Street and San Jacinto), Austin, TX 78701.
