Map Out Your Future

Geographic information specialists create maps that combine layers of information used for a wide range of purposes. You'll learn to use the latest geospatial technology and build expertise in computer-based data collection, storage, analysis, and more. Your degree lets you enter the GIS profession directly or transfer to a four-year institution.

A Variety Of Course Options

  • Classroom - Take advantage of hands-on professional instruction during lecture and lab at our ACC Northridge, South Austin, and Highland Campuses.

  • Hybrid - Personal instruction with online flexibility - hybrid courses combine our classroom and online experience by pairing a weekly on-campus class with online instruction.

  • Online - Can't make it to campus? No problem. We offer our GIS Level I Certificate to all Texans via flexible online courses that allow you to focus on the curriculum, not the commute.

Need to complete a course, but the on campus semester schedule just doesn't fit your schedule? No problem. Take just one course online.

Level I Certificate

Online students pursuing the Level I Certificate complete the same 20 semester hours and 512 contact hours of modularized curriculum as classroom students. However, online students have the opportunity to accelerate their learning and complete their GIS Level I Certificate within 8 to 12 months.

This program is great for students comfortable with online learning who wish to pursue a GIS certificate outside of the standard semester. Current ACC students who wish to be considered should complete the Online GIS Level I Certificate Application form.
