This course is designed to prepare teachers to instruct learners whose primary language is other than English. The course emphasizes language concepts and best instructional practices for facilitating English language proficiency. Instructional techniques for both literacy and oral language development focus on social and academic language skills. In addition, the course prepares the candidates for managing the ESL program, ESL classroom, working with families, and drawing upon community resources.
General Botany for Landscape Design & Horticulture
An introduction to basic botany as it directly relates to horticulture and landscaping. This course will cover the fundamentals of: plant biology, plant growth, plant development, plant anatomy, photosynthesis, respiration/transpiration, and various factors that can affect plant development in a cultivated environment.
*This class is taught asynchronously, which means there are no set meeting times and the students are able to complete the lessons and activities at their own pace through Blackboard. However, live sessions will be held as needed. The information will be posted to Blackboard Announcements.

Interested in making a career change to Software Development The Austin Community College Software Development Bootcamp and is an excellent choice for building skills in the high demand areas of software development. The ACC bootcamp covers Full stack Javascript Software, Git, and many more technologies.
In order to get prepared for the Bootcamp, ACC is offering a Bootcamp Prep Course. In this prep course, you will work on essential computer and math skills. This 2 week long course will help navigate the rigor of the Bootcamp.
Bootcamp Prep Course includes:
-Familiarity with web technologies: HTML
-Simple programming concepts using online gaming environments like MIT Scratch
-Use of computer tools including: Linux Command Line, Git/Github, Visual Studio Code
-Familiarity with your computer's operating system, including Windows 10, Windows Subsystem Linux and Mac OSX
-Refresh of basic math and logic skills that would help you get ready for a career in technology
This course is designed specifically for adults 18+ with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Students explore office procedures including appointment scheduling, records creation and maintenance, interpersonal communications, bookkeeping tasks, coding, billing, collecting, third party reimbursement, credit arrangements, and computer use in the office. An online course offering complete understanding of using 2 different measuring systems in medical practice to determine converting one system to the other, dosages in multiple dosage forms, dosages based on weight and routes of administration. The course will include workforce applicable calculations of flow rates for intravenous administration. This course will allow practicing health care professionals a review and also an avenue of students to receive credit for dosage calculations when taking a 3 credit hour pharmacology course at another institution. NOTE: Mandatory final exam schedule last day in testing center.
