This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in TPN sterile compounding procedures. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: TPN calculations, TPN base solution and additive preparation, use/cleaning/calibration of an automated TPN compounder, etc. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion, ACPE statement of credit, and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based Activity. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. When submitting your online petition, you must scan and upload your resume or CV, proof of certification or registration, and evidence of IV certificate, to be evaluated as evidence that you meet the prerequisites. This course will provide an overview of irrigation systems appropriate for landscape and small farm usage. Topics include determining plant and landscape needs, selecting equipment and layout design, sizing components, water conservation, installation, and troubleshooting. Hands-on activities will take place when possible.
This course is an examination of the principles of movement generation, phrasing, choreographic structure and motif manipulation. Integration of choreographic principles will foster the growth of personal artistic style. Integrated with credit DANC-1301. Study and application of shop skills used in agricultural processes including arc welding, oxyacetylene cutting and welding, drawing and planning projects, tool maintenance, metal working, woodworking, plumbing, and concrete. Combined with credit AGME-1315.
Cross-cultural comparisons of management and communications processes. Emphasizes cultural geographic distinctions and antecedents that affect individual, group, and organizational behavior. May include sociocultural demographics, economics, technology, political-legal issues, negotiations, and processes of decision making in the international cultural environment. Integrated with college credit IBUS 2341.
Editing Government, Business and Technical Information
Instruction in proofreading and editing skills necessary to assure accuracy in business documents as well as technical documents. Designed to give students a working understanding of the role of the technical editor as collaborator and decision maker in the entire publication process. Topics include online editing, revising, hypertext, graphics, visual design, and project estimating. Integrated with credit ETWR-2379.
A short conversational course for intermediate to advanced student, to assist them in conducting conversations in Spanish, as well as understanding articles written in Spanish. This course includes reviews of some basic grammar in order to expand on more advanced concepts, and it introduces new advanced grammar topics.
