An introductory course to the fundamentals of volleyball including passing, serving, setting, and spiking. Students will learn rules and court strategy for playing the game. The modern quality, and adaptability of the new smart phone is often as good as a Digital Single Lens Reflect or Mirrorless cameras. This course will cover the basics of making a photograph using your iPhone. Which includes: light and paying close attention to it. Context is nearly as important as the subject. Choosing the best exposure setting to get the desired result. Participants will learn and use exposure settings, editing, and storage on a newer iPhone to create great photographs. Additionally, this course will explore intentionality and audience when making photos.
In this course, students will learn to use standard English grammar in writing paragraphs and compositions. Students work on developing effective simple and compound sentences and using them in their writing. Students are exposed to the modes of argument, process, comparison contrast and classification. This is the first course in a series designed to prepare ESOL student to handle the writing tasks they will encounter in college-credit level courses and the workplace. Integrated with credit ESOL-0371. To register for Writing 1 (COMX 4071) you must also be co-enrolled in Grammar 1 (COMX 4095) this semester or have a passing grade of C or higher in Grammar 1 (COMX 4095) or placement into Grammar 2 (COMX 4097) or higher on the ESOL assessment test.
Tap into your creative side and discover how fun and easy it is to construct beautiful works of art with mosaics. Students will learn the basics of glass mosaics including cutting, layout/design, affixing the materials, grouting, and finishing in this introductory hands-on class. Each student will complete one project. No previous experience is required. All tools, materials, and necessary equipment will be provided.
Workshop-style course in which students study the concept of hypertext, learn structuring principles and navigation tools common in online information, create web pages using XHTML and CSS, get an introduction to web page development tools such as Dreamweaver; and overview documentation trends such as structured authoring, single-sourcing, and XML. Survey of veterinary medicine, including veterinary-related careers, safety in the Veterinary workplace, the human-companion animal bond, animal restraint, client relations, and basic medical terminology. This online course is a pre-or co-requisite to entering the Veterinary Clinical Assistant program. The student program application process must be completed in full before students may register for Semester II courses.
A study of three-dimensional fashion design conceptualizing by draping in muslin or fashion fabric directly on the dress form. Skill development in observing grain of fabric, identifying drapable fabrics and creating designs suitable for draping. Presentation of major fashion designers and draping techniques.
