Learn why you are at risk and what you can do to protect your personal and business data from the outside world. This course will bring you up to speed on the fundamentals of PC and network security. You will understand and explore the vulnerability of operating systems, software, and networks; you will find out why, where and how viruses, worms, and blended threats are created; you will learn a safe way to handle files and data across the internet through a virtual private network. Suggested prerequisite: A familiarity with general computing terminology, an understanding of any operating system you are using (Mac, Windows, or Linux) and an ability to locate programs and change settings.
Exploration of theories, techniques, and processes of public relations including means of influencing methods of building good will, analysis of media, obtaining publicity, and implementation of public relations programs.
Led by Rick Roemer, this 8-week course is designed for those who have taken Acting Fundamentals and Acting Explorations or equivalent training. Using scenes or monologues, the focus will be on strengthening text analysis and following inner impulses to create a powerful need to speak. The work in class will enliven the imagination and increase emotional availability and vulnerability of the actor. This class can be taken more than once, as it is different each time with new students and new scenes to explore. After expanding abilities in a playful environment, this class culminates in an event where scenes are performed for a small audience.
Gross anatomy of domestic animals including physiological explanations of how each organ system functions. Veterinary terminology will also be included, with an introduction to word parts, directional terminology, and analysis of common veterinary terms. Prerequisite: Prior to registration for this course, applicants are required to complete an online orientation and meet with the program coordinator. Computer and internet access required for online quizzes and testing.
This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in sterile compounding related to pediatric preparations. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: pediatric calculations, pediatric LVP, EEC, and syringe preparations, other neonatal and/or pediatric CSPs. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion, ACPE statement of credit, and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based Activity. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course " PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. Application of basic coding rules, principles, guidelines, and conventions. Health Information Coding Specialists apply ICD-9-CM, ICD10-CM and CPT-4 codes used in the reporting and billing of medical services and procedures. Most specialists will be employed in hospitals, but job growth will be faster in offices and clinics of physicians, nursing homes and home health agencies. Prerequisite: HITT 1013.
