This special populations course is designed to provide an overview of the special education process while focusing on various types of learners with special needs, including children with disabilities, gifted learners, and children at risk such as homeless and migrant children. Topics include: legal requirements and laws, topics on public laws relating to individuals with disabilities, categories of exceptionality, identification and intervention, collaboration, identification and assessment of children, inclusion, and planning, delivering, and documenting educational services. The readings and activities are chosen with the intent to prepare you both for the Special Education Supplemental TExES Exam as well as your first year as a special education and/or classroom educator.

This course will introduce you to the program's basic functions and
uses. Through hands-on lessons, you will learn numerous shortcuts to quickly and efficiently set up worksheets. You will also learn how to use the function wizard to calculate statistics, future values, and more. In addition, you will get tips on sorting and analyzing data, creating three-dimensional workbooks, and automating frequently-repeated tasks with macros and buttons. Software requirements: PC: Windows 10 or later operating systems. Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge is also compatible. Microsoft Excel, a subscription to Office 365, or Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019.
The use of specialized software and use of adaptive hardware is included in this class. Vocational technology use includes keyboard use, data entry, and transcription accuracy. System and application software skills appropriate for each student are selected during the admissions interview. This course is geared toward supporting students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Survey of veterinary medicine, including veterinary-related careers, safety in the Veterinary workplace, the human-companion animal bond, animal restraint, client relations, and basic medical terminology. This online course is a pre-or co-requisite to entering the Veterinary Clinical Assistant program. The student program application process must be completed in full before students may register for Semester II courses.
