In this course, students will learn to use standard English grammar in writing paragraphs and compositions. Students work on developing effective simple and compound sentences and using them in their writing. Students are exposed to the modes of argument, process, comparison contrast and classification. This is the first course in a series designed to prepare ESOL student to handle the writing tasks they will encounter in college-credit level courses and the workplace. Integrated with credit ESOL-0371. To register for Writing 1 (COMX 4071) you must also be co-enrolled in Grammar 1 (COMX 4095) this semester or have a passing grade of C or higher in Grammar 1 (COMX 4095) or placement into Grammar 2 (COMX 4097) or higher on the ESOL assessment test.
Introduction to the study and analysis of the structure of different styles and movements of theater and how it differs from film and other genres. Possible markets for creative writing will be discussed.
An introduction to the study of the Spanish language with instruction structured to promote the development of speaking and listening skills for direct application within business and personal settings. Offered within a relaxed and enjoyable environment, and conducted in English and Spanish, the instruction focuses on the development of vocabulary, pronunciation skills, basic sentence patterns, and overview of Latin Culture.
Introduction to basic marketing functions; identification of consumer and organizational needs; explanation of economic, psychological, sociological, and global issues; and description and analysis of the importance of marketing research.
This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in TPN sterile compounding procedures. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: TPN calculations, TPN base solution and additive preparation, use/cleaning/calibration of an automated TPN compounder, etc. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion, ACPE statement of credit, and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based Activity. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. This course is designed for: New administrators who are responsible for the setup, configuration, and maintenance of the Salesforce org; and other groups that would benefit from this course, including sales reps, sales operations, service agents, and IT managers. An introductory course to the fundamentals of volleyball including passing, serving, setting, and spiking. Students will learn rules and court strategy for playing the game.
