Understanding and working with your soil is essential to farming and ranching. Introduction to Soil is a study of the physical properties of soil including structure and texture. Topics include the origin and development of soils, the composition of soil horizon, and the interrelationship between soil fertility and plants. Emphasis will be placed on different methods for soil conservation and soil building practices in sustainable agriculture.
Survey of the world of fashion businesses. Introduction to the creation and merchandising of fashion through the study of fashion vocabulary, the fashion process, fashion publications, and career opportunities. This is an online class. General Botany for Landscape Design & Horticulture
An introduction to basic botany as it directly relates to horticulture and landscaping. This course will cover the fundamentals of: plant biology, plant growth, plant development, plant anatomy, photosynthesis, respiration/transpiration, and various factors that can affect plant development in a cultivated environment.
*This class is taught asynchronously, which means there are no set meeting times and the students are able to complete the lessons and activities at their own pace through Blackboard. However, live sessions will be held as needed. The information will be posted to Blackboard Announcements.
An instructional program designed to integrate on-campus study with practical hands-on work experience. The HVAC program has been specially designed to deliver the skills you need in a short period of time so you can enter this high growth occupation quickly. Our hands-on program includes the following courses. The courses must be taken in the order listed below. This program is 216 total hours. Basic Electricity for HVAC - Principles of electricity as required by HVAC, including proper use of test equipment, electrical circuits, and component theory and operation. Refrigeration Principles - This is an introductory course to the HVAC industry. The course will give an introduction to the refrigeration cycle, heat transfer theory, temperature/pressure relationship, refrigerant handling, refrigeration components, and safety. EPA Recovery Certification Preparation - This certification training class focuses on recovery, recycle, and reclaim of HVAC refrigerant. Instruction includes a review of EPA guidelines for refrigerant recovery and recycling during the installation, service, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems. During the last day of this class, students will challenge the EPA Universal Examination.
Multimedia for Technical Communications Management
Learn to create audio-visual tutorials for technical products employing the principles of instructional design, user experience, and usability as a foundation to learn and employ audio-video applications like TechSmith, Camtasia and Adobe Captivate. This course was designed to be repeated multiple times if content varies. Combined with credit ETWR-2470. Qualifies for student health insurance.
