This class is intended for anyone desiring to increase the power and impact of their speaking voice. Training in healthy vocal production is an essential part of speaking intentionally in any situation, from the stage or screen to the classroom or boardroom. In this course, you’ll learn a variety of techniques for preparing and utilizing your natural voice to speak confidently in a variety of environments. The first few classes will focus on active exercises designed to healthily engage the various aspects of vocal production, while the final sessions will practically apply what you’ve learned to scenes, speeches, interpersonal communication, or presentations.

This is an intermediate reading course designed to not only improve reading proficiency but also increase the appreciation of reading. It teaches language through reading and vocabulary. It is for students who need either to improve or review basic reading and vocabulary skills in English. Word attack skills, phonics, and syllabication are some of the skills that are introduced during the course. Students will continue to read level-appropriate academic texts, distinguishing between topics, main ideas, and supporting details. Word attack skills, phonics, syllabication, development of specific skills for increasing speed and extracting information from texts, accuracy in reading comprehension through discussion and writing exercises that focus on meaning. The objective is to help students prepare for future academic coursework. Integrated with credit ESOL-0312.

A physical conditioning course that emphasizes cardiovascular fitness through your choice of walking, jogging, or a combination of both. Students will not be required to run. Correct techniques in striding and form will be introduced in addition to discussion of the benefits of aerobic exercise, nutrition, weight management, and associated topics. Fundamentals of PC Use

Introduction to operating systems, file creation/deletion, data entry and manipulation, automatic file execution, configuration, and directory commands. Perfect for new users who want to gain confidence and a firm foundation in using personal computers. Topics include using the keyboard and mouse; working in the Windows environment, and learning basic troubleshooting. Suggested prerequisites: none.
This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in TPN sterile compounding procedures. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: TPN calculations, TPN base solution and additive preparation, use/cleaning/calibration of an automated TPN compounder, etc. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion, ACPE statement of credit, and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based Activity. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. When submitting your online petition, you must scan and upload your resume or CV, proof of certification or registration, and evidence of IV certificate, to be evaluated as evidence that you meet the prerequisites. In this course, students will learn to use standard English grammar in writing paragraphs and compositions. Students work on developing effective simple and compound sentences and using them in their writing. Students are exposed to the modes of argument, process, comparison contrast and classification. This is the first course in a series designed to prepare ESOL student to handle the writing tasks they will encounter in college-credit level courses and the workplace. Integrated with credit ESOL-0371. To register for Writing 1 (COMX 4071) you must also be co-enrolled in Grammar 1 (COMX 4095) this semester or have a passing grade of C or higher in Grammar 1 (COMX 4095) or placement into Grammar 2 (COMX 4097) or higher on the ESOL assessment test.
