Introduction to word processing terminology, editing functions, formatting, and special text options. Create, edit, and print documents such as letters or reports using Microsoft Word. The course covers text, paragraph, and page formatting, spell checking, copying, pasting, and printing. Prerequisites: Familiarity with the PC.
This course focuses on the science of teaching reading and integrating reading instruction into specific content area instruction. Strategies are provided to incorporate phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, comprehension, and fluency into daily content area instruction. Identification and strategies for addressing dyslexia are also covered.
General Botany for Landscape Design & Horticulture
An introduction to basic botany as it directly relates to horticulture and landscaping. This course will cover the fundamentals of: plant biology, plant growth, plant development, plant anatomy, photosynthesis, respiration/transpiration, and various factors that can affect plant development in a cultivated environment.
*This class is taught asynchronously, which means there are no set meeting times and the students are able to complete the lessons and activities at their own pace through Blackboard. However, live sessions will be held as needed. The information will be posted to Blackboard Announcements.
Fundamentals of a Chinese martial art form emphasizing health and self-defense (non-contact). It involves slow movements that resemble various animals in motion. A short conversational course for intermediate to advanced student, to assist them in conducting conversations in Spanish, as well as understanding articles written in Spanish. This course includes reviews of some basic grammar in order to expand on more advanced concepts, and it introduces new advanced grammar topics.
