An online course offering complete understanding of using 2 different measuring systems in medical practice to determine converting one system to the other, dosages in multiple dosage forms, dosages based on weight and routes of administration. The course will include workforce applicable calculations of flow rates for intravenous administration. This course will allow practicing health care professionals a review and also an avenue of students to receive credit for dosage calculations when taking a 3 credit hour pharmacology course at another institution. NOTE: Mandatory final exam schedule last day in testing center.
This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in sterile compounding related to pediatric preparations. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: pediatric calculations, pediatric LVP, EEC, and syringe preparations, other neonatal and/or pediatric CSPs. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion, ACPE statement of credit, and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based Activity. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course " PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. A continuation of practices and techniques used in basic computer-aided drafting emphasizing advanced dimensioning techniques, the development and use of prototype drawings, construction of pictorial drawings, construction of three dimensional drawings, interfacing 2D and 3D environments and extracting data.
Students in this course will learn designs appropriate for various special occasions, including birthdays, Homecoming, new baby, and more. Designs learned can be modified for everyday occasions. Students will also have the opportunity to learn other design styles including Contemporary, Ikebana, European and Tropical. Floral Design Principles is recommended but not required as a prerequisite.

Court Interpreting is a two-part course presenting interpreting skills for individuals who are fluent in English and Spanish and students must take the courses in order. This course focuses on simultaneous and consecutive interpreting and sight translation in court settings. It will include roles, responsibilities, and ethics of the court interpreter, protocol and procedures for effectively working with judges, attorneys, and respondents to avoid conflicts of interest, and legal terminology. Information about licensing and certification for court interpreters will also be provided. Prerequisites: Introduction to Translation and Interpreting and passing a language fluency test.
The goal of this class is to understand the origins, major concepts, and current issues of sustainability in local and global agriculture. The economic, environmental and social aspects of sustainability in agroecosystems will be addressed. Students evaluate the environmental impact of conventional agriculture and the solutions that sustainable agriculture provides. Students will also examine the economic and social issues in agriculture and different pathways to increase profitability and social equity for the farmer. This course includes case studies and field trips to connect principles of sustainable agriculture to local farming systems. Combined with credit AGCR-1371.
