This course will discuss local agricultural pests and their impact on crops in Central Texas. Topics will include building and maintaining healthy soil, plant and insect biological cycles , identification and diagnosis of pest problems, and the selection, implementation and theory of integrated pest management.
*This class is taught asynchronously, which means there are no set meeting times and the students are able to complete the lessons and activities at their own pace through Blackboard. However, live sessions will be held as needed. The information will be posted to Blackboard Announcements.
Introduction to the manual graphic techniques of Landscape Design. This is a hand drafting course. Drafting techniques and freehand sketching will be covered including plan, elevation/section, perspective drawing, scale, landscape symbols, and rendering techniques.
Continuation of LATI-1411/ LATX-4011 with more advanced grammar, vocabulary building, reading comprehension, and culture. Prerequisite: Students must have completed/passed LATI-1411 / LATX-4011 to enroll in LATI-1412/ LATX-4012.
Applied study of human kinesiology. Muscle movements and dysfunctions will be discussed and palpated. Includes theory and practice of functional muscle testing. Meets the minimum 50-contact-hour requirement for licensure for Massage. Prerequisite: MSSG 1013: Anatomy & Physiology.
Continue the development of jewelry fabrication skills to include precision layout, sawing, and filing; complex assembly tasks; and finishing to professional standards. Prerequisite: JLRY-1001. Combined with credit JLRY-1402.
This class consists of 40 hours of clinical skills practice in a facility and 8hrs of prep time for the State Examination. The prep time will be done in the Skills Lab. The times/days of clinical hours will be discussed at the beginning of the class. The clinical times will be planned according to the availability of the facility and the clinical instructors schedule. This skills training provides the opportunity to practice skills learned in the classroom and skills lab, on the residents of an approved facility, and also provides an opportunity to meet with the Human Resources Department at the facility, to discuss job placement when State Certified.
After successful completion of NURA 1001 and NURA 1060 the student will be eligible to apply for the State Examination. On passing the exam the student will receive Certification as a Nurse Aide in the State of Texas.
Information will be given in class on how to facilitate the process of applying to test.
The State test is given in 2 parts, Written and Skills. Combined the cost is $104.50. If a student requires special accommodation to test, this information must be discussed with the class Instructor at the beginning of the first class.
An original Social Security Card or ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) and a Picture ID must be shown to the Examiner on test day prior to approval to test.
