This course provides novice business analysts or those wanting to enter the profession with an understanding of the foundation concepts and key techniques of business analysis. To ensure that everyone has a common understanding of how projects are performed, there is also a focus on key concepts of projects and project management. Then, through class discussions and homework, participants learn how an organization identifies the needs for changes and selects solution approaches. With exercises and discussion, they learn how requirements are elicited and analyzed, practicing some of the most common techniques that are used by business analysts. They get experience with interviews, workshops, process modeling, writing use cases and user stories, building functional requirements, and performing structured walkthroughs. Participants read and discuss the IIBA BABOK Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge as the backbone of the course. Multimedia for Technical Communications Management
Learn to create audio-visual tutorials for technical products employing the principles of instructional design, user experience, and usability as a foundation to learn and employ audio-video applications like TechSmith, Camtasia and Adobe Captivate. This course was designed to be repeated multiple times if content varies. Combined with credit ETWR-2470. Qualifies for student health insurance.
Safety principles and skills which will enable students to avoid and/or minimize violence will be taught. Introduction to scripting languages including the use of basic data types, control structures, regular expressions, input/output, and textual analysis. Covers basic JavaScript scripting features: code placement, events and event handlers, methods, functions and parameters, attributes, JavaScript objects, and underlying it all, the document object model. Work with variables, operators, if/then/else control structures, loops, and arrays. Suggested prerequisites: Introduction to Programming Languages or prior programming experience; good knowledge of HTML coding or completion of Intermediate World Wide Web Authoring, HTML, and CSS.
