Designed for low-intermediate level ESOL students, this course emphasizes speaking and listening to American English. It emphasizes the development of better listening skills by listening to real-life conversations and short academic talks. Students practice speaking through paired and small group activities. There is a continued focus on correct pronunciation with the goal of helping reduce accents that interfere with communication. This course may be repeated for up to 6 hours of credit. Integrated with credit ESOL-0302.
Integrated Pest Management Basics for Sustainable...
This course will discuss local agricultural pests and their impact on crops in Central Texas. Topics will include building and maintaining healthy soil, plant and insect biological cycles , identification and diagnosis of pest problems, and the selection, implementation and theory of integrated pest management.
*This class is taught asynchronously, which means there are no set meeting times and the students are able to complete the lessons and activities at their own pace through Blackboard. However, live sessions will be held as needed. The information will be posted to Blackboard Announcements.
This course familiarizes students with the structure of the TOEFL iBT and reviews strategies and skills for taking the exam, including reading, writing, listening and speaking. This class focuses on acting for both the camera and the stage. Students will learn how to develop characters and create relationships explored through improvisation, imagination work, and monologue/scene study. There will be some videotaping and playback with instructor feedback. Ages 13-17. Under the age of 13 requires instructor approval. This class may be repeated for ongoing study and is appropriate for all levels. Students will always receive new scripts. Limited to 12 students.
Introduction to the study and analysis of the process of writing for film by examining story concept, theme, characterization, structure, and script formatting, and by creating synopses and treatments. Possible markets for creative writing will be discussed.
This course will examine and apply the landscape design process. Topics will include design principles and elements, site inventory and analysis, design programming, client relationship, conceptual design, form study, master plan and planting plans. Recommended prerequisite: HALT 1072 Introduction to Landscape Graphics.
