Provides general preparation for instructional aides by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Day 1 covers Working Together Successfully; Day 2 covers Learning Styles and Instructional Process; and Day 3 covers Reading, Writing, and Math. Assessments are performance-based and take place throughout the course. Successful participants may earn a Paraeducator Statement of Completion for employment. Sack Lunch requested. STUDENTS MUST ATTEND ALL THREE DAYS, must meet qualifications, complete class independently, and pass all the requirements. Students who are not "highly qualified" will earn a Professional Development Statement of Completion.

Instruction in terminology, program parameters, display characteristics, formatting features, mathematical functions, and printing. Using Microsoft Excel, create formulas and functions, gain skills to build, manage, save, retrieve, format, and print worksheets and charts. Students have to have Excel installed on their computer and internet access. Suggested prerequisites: familiarity with PC.
This course introduces two important accents used for stage, film, television, and video games. In the Fall the offering is American Southern and Australian. Through Knight-Thompson Speechwork, a new standard-bearing approach to speech, students will acquire the skills to convincingly perform these accents. Areas of focus include developing the oral posture, learning how to create the unique pronunciations, and analyzing the “music” (rhythm, tempo, and intonation) of the accent. Studies include native speakers of these accents, and dialogue from stage and screen scripts will be utilized to apply the work. This course is for actors with and without speech training and for people who simply would enjoy learning two interesting accents.
This special populations course is designed to provide an overview of the special education process while focusing on various types of learners with special needs, including children with disabilities, gifted learners, and children at risk such as homeless and migrant children. Topics include: legal requirements and laws, topics on public laws relating to individuals with disabilities, categories of exceptionality, identification and intervention, collaboration, identification and assessment of children, inclusion, and planning, delivering, and documenting educational services. The readings and activities are chosen with the intent to prepare you both for the Special Education Supplemental TExES Exam as well as your first year as a special education and/or classroom educator.
This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in sterile compounding related to pediatric preparations. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: pediatric calculations, pediatric LVP, EEC, and syringe preparations, other neonatal and/or pediatric CSPs. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion, ACPE statement of credit, and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based Activity. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course " PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. Students in this course will learn designs appropriate for various holidays, including Valentine's Day and Christmas. Designs learned can be modified for everyday occasions.
