Major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers and publications back the program. A+ certification signifies that the certified individual possesses the knowledge and skills essential for a successful entry-level (6 months experience) computer service technician, as defined by experts from companies across the industry. The A+ Training course at Austin Community College is a 128-hour Two Part program including lecture, labs, and exam preparation. The course will prepare students for the CompTIA A+ Essentials certification examination. Prerequisite: A desire to learn. Major concepts, theories, and their applications to prepare for the SHRM-CP/SCP Certification Exam. Suggested prerequisites: four years in a exempt level HR position: (HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, HR Manager, HR Director); or six years in an exempt level Specialist position: (Training & Development Specialist, Benefits Specialist, Recruiting Specialist, Employee Relations Specialist); or seven years in a non-exempt HR position (HR Assistant, HR Coordinator).
This course will provide an overview of irrigation systems appropriate for landscape and small farm usage. Topics include determining plant and landscape needs, selecting equipment and layout design, sizing components, water conservation, installation, and troubleshooting. Hands-on activities will take place when possible.
This course prepares students for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) "Six Sigma Black Belt" certification exam. The course is a refresher study of the ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge. Topics include enterprise-wide deployment, business process management, project management, Six Sigma improvement methodology and tools (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control phases), lean enterprise principles, and Design for Six Sigma. The student will focus on the theory and application of these topics by studying the course materials and taking and reviewing sample exams containing questions similar to those on the actual CSSBB exam. Note that this course does not include the ASQ certification exam. This course introduces two important accents used for stage, film, television, and video games. In the Fall the offering is American Southern and Australian. Through Knight-Thompson Speechwork, a new standard-bearing approach to speech, students will acquire the skills to convincingly perform these accents. Areas of focus include developing the oral posture, learning how to create the unique pronunciations, and analyzing the “music” (rhythm, tempo, and intonation) of the accent. Studies include native speakers of these accents, and dialogue from stage and screen scripts will be utilized to apply the work. This course is for actors with and without speech training and for people who simply would enjoy learning two interesting accents.
