Course Description

Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) is an IT workforce certification given by CompTIA that focuses on defense through security analytics, incident detection and response, and applies behavioral analytics to networks and devices to prevent, detect and combat cybersecurity threats. This class helps prepare the student to take the CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) exam at the intermediate-skills level of a cybersecurity
career path. CompTIA CySA+ is for IT professionals looking to gain the following security analyst skills: Perform data analysis and interpret the results to identify vulnerabilities, threats and risks to an organization, Configure and use threat-detection tools and Secure and protect applications and systems within an organization. CompTIA CySA+ meets the ISO 17024 standard and is approved by U.S. Department of Defense to fulfill Directive 8570.01-M requirements and is compliant with government regulations under the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). Suggested prerequisites: CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications, or equivalent knowledge.

Meet The Instructor

David G. Forster

David Forster possesses 35+ years of knowledge and experience in the fields of computer manufacturing and computer service, along with managed services and sales of computers and networks, all geared at business level and enterprise level networks of systems. He has extensive experience with network design and manufacturing, along with network support and maintenance experience. David has owned a computer manufacturing and sales company located in Austin since 1986 and according to the Austin Business Journal it was at one time the 4th largest computer manufacturer in Texas. David was integral in helping the company move from 400K in annual sales to 12 million annually.

He has owned and operated another company FITCS that has been in operation for over 40 years servicing electronics, computers, and networks. David has instructed at Austin Community College for the past 9 years for the PC Technician Series comprised of the CompTIA A+ and Network+ certification preparation. He is certified as a CompTIA A+, Network+ and has over 50 other certifications in the computing industry.

David served in the Air Force in an Electronics Technician capacity as his first career.

David offers a well-rounded set of skills from business management, business operations, business development, sales, marketing, and hands on computer and network technician with over 40 years dealing with computers, main frames, microcomputers, servers, workstations, desktops, laptops, tablets, and cell phones. He has been a Cub Master, Assistant Cub Master, and Den Leader; as well as a life scout for the Boy Scouts of America.
