This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in sterile compounding related to pediatric preparations. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: pediatric calculations, pediatric LVP, EEC, and syringe preparations, other neonatal and/or pediatric CSPs. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion, ACPE statement of credit, and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based Activity. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course " PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. Fundamentals of pharmacology including recognition, calculation, labeling, packaging, and administration of common veterinary drugs, biologics, and therapeutic agents. Discussion of normal and abnormal responses to these agents. Prerequisite: Prior to registration for this course, applicants are required to complete an online orientation and meet with the program coordinator.
Export management processes and procedures. Includes governmental controls and compliance, licensing of products, documentation, commercial invoices, and traffic procedures. Emphasizes human and public relations, management of personnel, finance, and accounting procedures. Integrated with credit IBUS-1301.
This course focuses on the science of teaching reading and integrating reading instruction into specific content area instruction. Strategies are provided to incorporate phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, comprehension, and fluency into daily content area instruction. Identification and strategies for addressing dyslexia are also covered.

Business and Professional Communication is the study and application of sending and receiving communication messages within the business and professional context. This course explores oral communication competencies in dyads, interviews, groups/teams, and presentations. Special emphasis is given to using technologically mediated formats in the workplace.
An introduction to the creative design of clothing through the flat pattern method. General principles of pattern making using the basic five-piece dress sloper.
