Students in this course will learn designs appropriate for various holidays, including Valentine's Day and Christmas. Designs learned can be modified for everyday occasions.
This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in sterile compounding related to pediatric preparations. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: pediatric calculations, pediatric LVP, EEC, and syringe preparations, other neonatal and/or pediatric CSPs. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion, ACPE statement of credit, and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based Activity. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course " PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. This class is an introduction to guitar fundamentals. Topics will include: major chords, strumming technique and basic music theory. This is a good opportunity to explore the guitar in a friendly, low stress environment. A guitar and pick are required; acoustic or classical guitars preferred but electric guitars are acceptable.
Concepts of confidentiality, ethics, healthcare legislation, and regulations relating to the maintenance and use of health information. This class is suitable for all health care majors.
Business and Professional Communication is the study and application of sending and receiving communication messages within the business and professional context. This course explores oral communication competencies in dyads, interviews, groups/teams, and presentations. Special emphasis is given to using technologically mediated formats in the workplace.
The course is designed to develop skills to get and keep a job. Students develop customer service skills, money management, how to create displays and point of sale. Vocational skills in a variety of job specific activities are addressed as individuals develop specific areas of interest. Opportunities for transfer into other Continuing Education classes are also explored. This course is geared toward supporting students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. CompTIA Security+ Exam 601 provides a basic overview of security concepts/techniques/technologies, risk analysis/management, disaster recovery, security plans, and incident recovery, and gives a firm foundation for more advanced security certifications/roles. Course material is targeted toward an Information Technology (IT) professional who has networking and administrative skills in TCP/IP networks and familiarity with a networkable operating system (such as NetWare, UNIX/Linux, or Microsoft). This course enables students to begin or further a career in Cybersecurity by acquiring a foundational knowledge of security topics; prepare for the CompTIA Security+ Certification examination; or use Security+ as the foundation for advanced security certifications or career roles. There is a primary textbook which will be required. Suggested prerequisites: one to three years IT experience, CompTIA A+ or Network+ certifications, or equivalent knowledge. This is an ONLINE course requiring a stable internet connection, and a current browser (e.g., Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, etc.). Audio is provided via computer or telephone line (a dial-in phone number will be available as an alternate audio connection). A computer camera option is preferred.
