This course provides an introduction to vocal technique for the beginning to advanced-beginning singer. Students will have the opportunity to sing both individually and as part of a group. This class is ideal for anyone who desires to gain a foundational knowledge of singing, including stage and film actors. Students are encouraged to focus on the musical styles that most interest them, with support from the instructor in identifying specific song choices. By the end of the course, participants will have become better acquainted with the unique qualities of their individual voices. No prior singing experience necessary.
General Botany for Landscape Design & Horticulture
An introduction to basic botany as it directly relates to horticulture and landscaping. This course will cover the fundamentals of: plant biology, plant growth, plant development, plant anatomy, photosynthesis, respiration/transpiration, and various factors that can affect plant development in a cultivated environment.
*This class is taught asynchronously, which means there are no set meeting times and the students are able to complete the lessons and activities at their own pace through Blackboard. However, live sessions will be held as needed. The information will be posted to Blackboard Announcements.
Quality control principles and applications. Describe the benefits and applications of quality control; apply quality control tools and techniques; demonstrate planning and organization of quality control systems; and analyze the cost of poor quality in industry.
Pre-requisites: All program classes completed with a passing grade of “C” or above, immunizations, CPR, First Aid uploaded, background and drug screen obtained through Castlebranch. Business Communications for Non-Native Speakers is a communications course for non-native speakers of English. The course occurs in a simulated office setting in which students become fellow employees of a small business specializing in consulting. Using a "hands-on" approach, students work through various business procedures, such as conducting meetings and taking minutes, creating press releases, writing white papers, and showcasing new products. This course presents business grammar and vocabulary to non-native speakers and requires students to apply this knowledge to reading, writing, and speaking the language of business English.
