Describes the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in small networks and introduces wireless local area networks (WLAN) and security concepts. Provides an in-depth understanding of how routers and switches operate and are implemented in the LAN environment. Students learn key switching and routing concepts. They can perform basic network configuration and troubleshooting, identify and mitigate LAN security threats, and configure and secure a basic WLAN. Suggested prerequisite: Introduction to Networks course or equivalent level of knowledge. The instructor will provide information on required books the first day of class.
Introduction to basic marketing functions; identification of consumer and organizational needs; explanation of economic, psychological, sociological, and global issues; and description and analysis of the importance of marketing research.
General Botany for Landscape Design & Horticulture
An introduction to basic botany as it directly relates to horticulture and landscaping. This course will cover the fundamentals of: plant biology, plant growth, plant development, plant anatomy, photosynthesis, respiration/transpiration, and various factors that can affect plant development in a cultivated environment.
*This class is taught asynchronously, which means there are no set meeting times and the students are able to complete the lessons and activities at their own pace through Blackboard. However, live sessions will be held as needed. The information will be posted to Blackboard Announcements.
This course includes a variety of exercises focusing on increasing cardio-respiratory endurance as well as improving muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and body composition. Movements set to music may include interval and circuit training, high and/or low impact movements, body sculpting, slide, cardio-dance, step aerobics and boot-camp style training. Fundamentals of energy and non-energy producing nutrients and their sources and functions. Integration of concepts including digestion, absorption, and metabolism with application to normal and therapeutic nutritional needs. Prerequisite: Prior to registration for this course, applicants are required to complete an online orientation and meet with the program coordinator.
