Examination of the various stages of the group work treatment process with emphasis on roles, tasks, and potential problem areas. Topics include mechanics of group function, structure of groups, communication patterns within groups, effective group facilitation skills, and techniques used to address special population issues and needs. Business Communications for Non-Native Speakers is a communications course for non-native speakers of English. The course occurs in a simulated office setting in which students become fellow employees of a small business specializing in consulting. Using a "hands-on" approach, students work through various business procedures, such as conducting meetings and taking minutes, creating press releases, writing white papers, and showcasing new products. This course presents business grammar and vocabulary to non-native speakers and requires students to apply this knowledge to reading, writing, and speaking the language of business English. Combined with credit ESOL-0392.
This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in TPN sterile compounding procedures. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: TPN calculations, TPN base solution and additive preparation, use/cleaning/calibration of an automated TPN compounder, etc. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion, ACPE statement of credit, and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based Activity. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. When submitting your online petition, you must scan and upload your resume or CV, proof of certification or registration, and evidence of IV certificate, to be evaluated as evidence that you meet the prerequisites. In this course, students will review basic verb tenses, proceed to intermediate structures, emphasizing communicative use in academic and non-academic contests. Students will also complete lab projects enforcing these forms and concepts. Integrated with credit ESOL-0397.

From building reports to using conditional formatting, this course will teach you how to best present your data with Access 2019. Software requirements: PC: Windows 10 or later operating systems. Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge is also compatible. Microsoft Access 2019, or a subscription to Office 365. Suggested prerequisite: A basic understanding of Microsoft Access objects and their use or completion of Access Introduction.
Continuation of Ophthalmic Techniques. Introduction to principles and techniques of various diagnostic evaluations. Topics include refractometry and retinoscopy, ophthalmic photography, applanation tonometry, and advanced clinical assessments. An overview of standardized tools prevalent in the field will be covered.
