Preparation for entry level nursing assistants to achieve a level of knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to provide basic care to residents of long-term care facilities. Topics include resident's rights, communication, safety, observation, reporting and assisting residents in maintaining basic comfort and safety. Emphasis on effective interaction with members of the health care team. Must register for and complete NURA 1060 prior to applying to take registry exam.
The use of specialized software and use of adaptive hardware is included in this class. Vocational technology use includes keyboard use, data entry, and transcription accuracy. System and application software skills appropriate for each student are selected during the admissions interview. This course is geared toward supporting students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A physical conditioning course that emphasizes cardiovascular fitness through your choice of walking, jogging, or a combination of both. Students will not be required to run. Correct techniques in striding and form will be introduced in addition to discussion of the benefits of aerobic exercise, nutrition, weight management, and associated topics. An introduction to the study of the Spanish language with instruction structured to promote the development of speaking and listening skills for direct application within business and personal settings. Offered within a relaxed and enjoyable environment, and conducted in English and Spanish, the instruction focuses on the development of vocabulary, pronunciation skills, basic sentence patterns, and overview of Latin Culture.
This program provides participants with a complete overview of human resources roles and responsibilities. Participants learn techniques for effectively handling daily HR and people management challenges. This course covers real-life HR issues and current, vital topics including: employment law; selecting qualified employees; compensation; orientation and training; and the performance management process.
Nursing skills performance and assessment in a structured simulation laboratory setting. Designed specifically for the nurse who has been out of active practice for 4 years or more and is seeking renewal of licensure with the Texas Board of Nursing. Required prior to registering for RNSG 1060 or VNSG 1060. Open only to nurses who hold a current or expired license to practice in the United States or with permission of the coordinator.

Describes the architecture, components, operations, and security to scale for large, complex networks, including wide area network (WAN) technologies. Emphasizes network security concepts and introduces network virtualization and automation. This course covers quality of service (QoS) mechanisms used for secure remote access. It also introduces software-defined networking, virtualization, and automation concepts that support the digitalization of networks. Suggested prerequisite: Introduction to Networks and Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials courses or an equivalent level of knowledge.
