The need for trained medical coding specialists is on the rise. To meet this growing demand, Austin Community College Continuing Education offers a one semester daytime classroom program or a two semester online program.
You Have Options
The medical insurance coding program creates a pathway for you into a rewarding health care career, and may be completed in as little as in one semester in a daytime classroom program, or two semesters online. The program includes:
- Four non-coding courses courses
- Four coding classes (HITT 2045 includes a short extern)
- Preparation for AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCA, CCS) credential
Programs begin in January and August.
If you have a HS diploma, GED, or college transcript, good oral and written communication skills, no criminal record, and are ready to begin a future in one of Austin's professional healthcare occupations, then download the application from this page and begin the checklist. Complete #1, #2, and #3 and then call to schedule an orientation visit. Programs begin in Spring(January) and Fall (August). Applications should be approved by December 1 for Spring start dates and August 1 for Fall start dates.
