Course Description

Continuation of CHIN 1411 with more advanced conversation, basic writing, listening and reading comprehension, vocabulary building, grammar, and culture. This course fosters deeper understanding of Chinese-speaking people through cultural comparison and development of written and spoken communication. Prerequisite: Students must have completed a first semester college Chinese course of at least four semester hours with a grade of C or better, or have equivalent credit by examination.

Course Description

This course is designed to prepare pharmacy personnel to handle, store, and administer various vaccinations to adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients. Incorporates Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and relevant best practice standards for immunization education and training. Prepares pharmacists and technicians with the resources, knowledge, and skills necessary to provide safe and effective immunization services. This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a proctored, written examination(s), to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in vaccine storage, preparation, and administration. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: draw techniques, reconstitution of power/dehydrated vaccine, intramuscular and subcutaneous vaccine administration, etc. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 48 hours (live workshop combined with home-study). CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion and upload of ACPE credit of 4.8 CEUs (48 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based Activity. Prerequisites: State Board of Pharmacy registration or licensure (pharmacists, students, technicians), and/or certified pharmacy technician; and ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience. Must have current CPR/BLS from an American Heart Association provider. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course, PHRA 1091. When submitting your online petition, you must scan and upload your resume or CV, registration or licensure, CPR/BLS Certification, and evidence of IV certificate (if applicable) to be evaluated as evidence that you meet the prerequisites. Note: This course may be converted to college credit. Integrated with credit PHRA-2275.

Course Description

The HVAC program has been specially designed to deliver the skills you need in a short period of time so you can enter this high growth occupation quickly. Our hands-on program includes the following courses. The courses must be taken in the order listed below. This program is 216 total hours. 1) Basic Electricity for HVAC - Principles of electricity as required by HVAC, including proper use of test equipment, electrical circuits, and component theory and operation. 2) Refrigeration Principles - This is an introductory course to the HVAC industry. The course will give an introduction to the refrigeration cycle, heat transfer theory, temperature/pressure relationship, refrigerant handling, refrigeration components, and safety. 3) EPA Recovery Certification Preparation - This certification training class focuses on recovery, recycle, and reclaim of HVAC refrigerant. Instruction includes a review of EPA guidelines for refrigerant recovery and recycling during the installation, service, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems. During the last day of this class, students will challenge the EPA Universal Examination. Once all 3 courses and Internship have been completed, a Certificate will be awarded to the student.
