Austin Community College's Continuing Education department is excited to bring the world of fashion to our classrooms with our Fashion Programs! We will be offering three Award options, which include: Fashion Design Certificate, Fashion Marketing Certificate, and Associate of Applied Science in Fashion Design.

Fashion Design

The Fashion Design Certificate will emphasize on the creation of clothing. Students will be encouraged to develop their personal vision and design philosophy while deepening their understanding of the various domestic and international market segments. Students will move from concept to production, learning drawing, draping, patternmaking, sewing, tailoring and specialty techniques.

Fashion Marketing

The Fashion Marketing Certificate provides students with an understanding of how the fashion industry operates. This certificate award plan is designed to meet the needs of individuals in the community who desire skills and knowledge in marketing. All of the courses will aid these employees of all industries that are involved in all functions of marketing by allowing them to better understand how these marketing functions can affect the marketing process and how they are interrelated.

Frequently Asked Questions

? How long does it take to complete the program?

Certificate programs are self-paced, but typically take 12-24 months to complete based upon 3-4 class load per semester. Most of the Fashion Design courses are in person. All the Fashion Marketing classes are online

Please Note: Not all classes may not be offered every semester.

? Do I have to take the classes in any specific order?

Some of the courses do have pre-reqs. Please click on the courses listed on our webpage to see full details about each class, or you can view the program maps here:

? Can I take just some of the classes but not all of them?

Yes. You may take any of the courses you like, as long as the prereq has been completed.

? Do these courses transfer for college credit?

If you take the classes as Continuing Education, they do not transfer as College Credit.

There are TWO options for our Fashion Certificates:

Continuing Education

A Continuing Education student does NOT receive college credit. The student takes the class as non-credit. No admissions process required. A student can sign up online or in-person and then just show up on the first day of class.

College Credit

A College Credit student receives college credit. A student must complete the ACC enrollment process. Please contact the ACC Admissions Office for this option.

NOTE: If you interested in the Associates of Applied Science in Fashion, please contact the ACC Admissions Office for information and enrollment.

? How much do the classes cost?

Our hands-on classes range in price, but generally fall in the price range of $180 - $395 per class.

? Where are the classes located?

The Fashion Design classes are currently located at ACC's Highland Campus (HLC) 6101 Highland Campus Dr, Austin, TX 78752

? Do I need to purchase any materials or textbooks?

Some of our courses do require textbooks and supplies. Class syllabus are distributed to students on the first day of class that includes this information. An approximate cost estimate is $75.00.

? What is Fashion Design? What are the Course Requirements?

Fashion Marketing is an online program.
