In this course, students will learn to use standard English grammar in writing developed academic compositions. Students work on developing effective sentences and using them in their writing. Students are exposed to the modes of classification, cause/effect, process analysis, and argument. This course is designed to further prepare ESOL student to handle the writing tasks they will encounter in college-credit level courses and the workplace. Integrated with credit ESOL-0373. To register for Writing 3 (COMX 4073) you must have (1) a passing grade of C or higher in Writing 2 (COMX 4072) or placement into Writing 3 (COMX 4073) on the ESOL assessment test and (2) a passing grade of C or higher in Grammar 2 (COMX 4096) or placement into Grammar 3 (COMX 4097) or higher on the ESOL assessment test.
This course provides an overview of principles and applications in gerontology through a multidisciplinary approach. Current research findings and key concepts are discussed within and assessed throughout this course to examine common issues in special populations. Through this course, students will be able to comprehend knowledge of future clientele in a gerontological setting.

This course combines a two-day live workshop and competency assessments, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/ distance learning (DIL) coursework, followed by four, proctored, written examinations, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in sterile compounding and aseptic technique (SCAT). All course activities are designed to be completed within a four month timeframe; however, motivated students may be able to move through the online coursework and written testing more quickly. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state-of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. This course requires significant preparatory work to be ready for the rigorous live workshop. The live workshop will consist of a brief review of USP<797>; standards and basic aseptic technique principles, followed by a series of competency assessment procedures. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion and upload of ACPE credit of (40 hours, 4.0 CEUs) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based Activity. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician/pharmacy technician trainee; or registered pharmacist/pharmacy intern; or be enrolled in or have completed an ACPE Accredited or ASHP/ACPE Accredited Pharmacy Technician program; or have a minimum of six months of pharmacy experience. Preferred: one or more years of sterile compounding experience.
The use of specialized software and use of adaptive hardware is included in this class. Vocational technology use includes keyboard use, data entry, and transcription accuracy. System and application software skills appropriate for each student are selected during the admissions interview. Fashion Illustration Media provides students with skill development in fashion technical drawing with emphasis on fashion details and applications. This class provides instruction in illustrating a wide variety of clothing in various media with an emphasis on computer-aided techniques. The class will accommodate all levels of skill from beginner to advance illustrators to help them achieve a professional level of fashion technical drawing for their portfolio.
