An introduction to the study of the Spanish language with instruction structured to promote the development of speaking and listening skills for direct application within business and personal settings. Offered within a relaxed and enjoyable environment, and conducted in English and Spanish, the instruction focuses on the development of vocabulary, pronunciation skills, basic sentence patterns, and overview of Latin culture.
This course is a comprehensive introduction to Adobe Photoshop with practical applications of digital imaging and preparing photographic artwork for print and digital media. Throughout the course, students will establish proficiency with the Adobe Photoshop interface and tools, and will gain an understanding of file formats, color management, image resolution, and pixel depth for differing output needs. Digital Imaging I is integrated with PHTC 1300, and is a pathway into the Department of Professional Photography workforce program.

This course delves into the art and technique of portrait photography, emphasizing the importance of knowing who you're photographing, why, and how the final image will be utilized. Whether an interior or exterior, the photograph reveals or reflects something poignant about a person. Body language, wardrobe, and facial expression; when all the elements synchronize, the picture can become timeless. Participants are expected to have a foundational knowledge of camera operations, including lenses, exposure, and lighting. Utilizing a camera with interchangeable lenses is recommended to fully explore the course content.

An introduction to the use of computer aided design software for jewelry to create solid models and tangible objects via STL file export to a computer numerical control prototyping system. Emphasis is placed on drawing set-up; creating and modifying geometry; storing and retrieving files, manipulating objects, using layers, and creating renderings. Basic casting skills, stone-setting skills, and computer experience are recommended for this course. Combined with credit JLRY-1471.
