This program provides participants with a complete overview of human resources roles and responsibilities. Participants learn techniques for effectively handling daily HR and people management challenges. This course covers real-life HR issues and current, vital topics including: employment law; selecting qualified employees; compensation; orientation and training; and the performance management process.
Skills development for professional personnel practicing in critical care units, emergency departments, and paramedic ambulances. Establishes a system of protocols for management of the patient experiencing cardiac difficulties. Meets the American Heart Association requirements for ACLS provider course. Participants who successfully complete the course receive an AHA ACLS Provider card. Course materials will be mailed to registered participants a minimum of one week prior to course. Registration deadline is one week prior to the first class day. Lunch is not provided. Approved for 16 nursing and TDH-P contact hours. Prerequisite: Knowledge and skills associated with basic CPR. Instruction in dance performance through experiential projects at the sophomore level. Students will rehearse and perform dance works choreographed by dance faculty and/or guest artists. Led by Rick Roemer, this 8-week course is designed for those who have taken Acting Fundamentals and Acting Explorations or equivalent training. Using scenes or monologues, the focus will be on strengthening text analysis and following inner impulses to create a powerful need to speak. The work in class will enliven the imagination and increase emotional availability and vulnerability of the actor. This class can be taken more than once, as it is different each time with new students and new scenes to explore. After expanding abilities in a playful environment, this class culminates in an event where scenes are performed for a small audience.
An introduction to anatomical systems with emphasis placed on head and neck anatomy. The supporting oral structures, embryology of the teeth, and tooth nomenclature are covered. Topics include the physiology and morphology of the deciduous and the permanent teeth along with basic dental terminology. This is the first course in the Dental Assisting Program. Admission to the Dental Assisting Program is required for registration.
Application of jewelry-making techniques using precious metals, with an emphasis on assembly and/or multiple setting styles. Includes an introduction to types of welding used in the industry for fabrication and repair such as laser welding and pulse arc welding. Prerequisite: JLRY-1002. Combined with credit JLRY-2435.
