Canine and Feline Clinical Management

Course Description
Survey feeding, common management practices, and care of canines and felines in a clinical setting. Review of common diseases of canines and felines encountered in the practice of veterinary medicine. Prerequisites: VTHT 1001-Introduction to Veterinary Technology, VTHT 1013-Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology, VTHT 1009-Veterinary Nutrition, VTHT 1049-Veterinary Pharmacology, or instructor approval.
Floral Design IV: Business Principles and Sympathy

Course Description
Students in this course will learn sympathy designs such as casket sprays and easel pieces. This class also covers the business of floristry.
Counseling Alcohol & Other Drug Addictions

Course Description
Special skills and techniques in the application of counseling skills for the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) client. Development and utilization of advanced treatment planning and management. Includes review of confidentiality and ethical issues. Integrated with college credit DAAC 2341.
Capstone Project-Horticulture & Landscape

Course Description
The Capstone Project will focus on the integration and application of accumulated knowledge of Horticulture and Landscape Design from a student's previous coursework and real world experiences. Students may enroll in the course when they are in their final semester of completing the required courses for their chosen certificate program. With the guidance of a student chosen instructor they will be challenged to identify and solve problems in a community-based project that they will present upon completion of the course. Students will submit a written proposal listing an outline of the project, learning objectives, a timeline for completion, and method of achieving their intended goals once they have enrolled in the course. German II

Course Description
Continuation of GERM 1411 with more advanced conversation, basic writing, listening and reading comprehension, vocabulary building, grammar, and culture. This course fosters deeper understanding of German-speaking people through cultural comparison and development of written and spoken communication. Students must have completed a first semester college German course of at least four semester hours with a grade of C or better, or have equivalent credit by examination.
Internship- Massage Therapy/Therapeutic Massage

Course Description
Enables students to synthesize knowledge, apply skills in a clinical setting, and develop experience managing workflow. In this capstone course, students integrate skills, knowledge and abilities acquired in all massage technique courses as they perform massage at an on campus practicum site. Students will be under the direct supervision is provided by a licensed massage therapy instructor on the staff at Austin Community College Locations. Meets the minimum 50-contact-hour requirement for licensure for Massage. Text for this class is the Student Internship Handbook provided in class. Online HIPAA required. Special Education Paraeducator
Course Description
This class is recommended for educational aides/paraprofessionals to become familiar working with special education students. This course covers Special Education topics such as IDEA, FAPE, IEP, physically impaired students, crisis intervention and LRE. Assessments are performance-based and take place throughout the course. Sack lunch requested.
