Course Description

This asynchronous Online Learning Course provides students with the knowledge and theory to become professional groomers. Students learn groomer and pet safety, grooming theory, breed styling patterns, and salon sanitation. The course further develops an understanding of professional terminology, canine anatomy, skin, and coat care knowledge and integrates professional skills such as customer service, time management, and effective communication. A series of five synchronous Google Meets hosted by certified educational and American Kennel Club-verified instructors provides students with data-driven education aligned with the AKC National Core Educational Standards. This focused attention gives students confidence and test-taking skills to prepare for the AKC-PGC Exam. After completing this course, students will continue with Step Two to become professional groomers by completing the hands-on training course, making them eligible to sit for the AKC-PGC Exam.
