Course Description
Introduction to oxyacetylene and arc welding techniques. Safety is an important focus of this class. Note: (CE) WLDG-1000 + (CE) WLDG-1043 = WLDG-1405 (4 Credits).
Note: Students are required to provide their own personal protective equipment (PPE) listed below.
- Safety Glasses (ANSI-approved with shatter-proof lenses and side shields)
- Reusable Earplugs (rubber or disposable sponge plugs)
- Flame Resistant Shirt/Welding Jacket (NFPA2112)
- Cotton Pants (must not have cuffs)
- Boots (high-top shoes are also acceptable, but fabric shoes are not permitted)
- Leather Gloves (gauntlet style to protect from embers and arc burns
- Welder's Cap (cloth cap with downward bill to protect from sparks)
- Locking pliers (for handling hot metal)
- Welding Hood (for electric arc welding, lens shade #10 or auto-darkening)
- Cutting Goggles (for oxy fuel welding, cutting and brazing, lens
