Introduction to Sustainable Agriculture

An introduction to the concept of sustainable agriculture, and examine the impact from social, economic, technological, and environmental perspectives. Integration of crop and livestock management, conservation practices, organic practices, and farming techniques to increase agricultural production, efficiency, and profitability. Combined with credit AGCR-1304.
Plants of Central Texas
Program Area: Lifelong Learning
Course Description
Instruction in the identification and use of native plant species of the Edwards Plateau and Llano Uplift. Basic plant knowledge is helpful, but not required. Much of the class will take place on field study trips for plant identification purposes.
Dental Radiology I

Course Description
The history of radiology theory will be presented including physics, radiation protection, operation of radiographic equipment, darkroom procedures, and exposure techniques. The student will state the theory and principles of radiographic techniques, physics, and radiation health and safety; and exhibit competency in exposing, processing, and mounting intraoral radiographs. Only current students of the Dental Assisting Program can register for this course.
Course Description
This course is designed to introduce students to the different forms of writing styles within business and the importance of planning, writing, revising, and editing business messages. Students seeking this course should be able to demonstrate fundamental computer skills and working knowledge of all Microsoft 2013 applications, and demonstrate knowledge of basic parts of speech and punctuation. This course is geared toward supporting students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Course Description
Skill development in the performance of a variety of blood collection methods using proper techniques and standard precautions. Includes vacuum collection devices, syringes, capillary skin puncture, butterfly needles and blood culture, and specimen collection on adults, children, and infants. Emphasis on infection prevention, patient identification, specimen labeling, quality assurance, specimen handling, processing, accessioning, professionalism, ethics, and medical terminology. Integrated with college credit PLAB-1323.

Course Description
Quality control principles and applications. Describe the benefits and applications of quality control; apply quality control tools and techniques; demonstrate planning and organization of quality control systems; and analyze the cost of poor quality in industry.
Introduction to WWW Authoring, HTML, and CSS
Program Area: Computer Science & Information Technology
Course Description
This course will focus on the use of the World Wide Web (WWW) and the creation of a home page. Web browsers and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) are discussed. Students get hands-on experience building simple web pages in XHTML with hypertext links and graphics. Includes an overview of techniques that enhance and facilitate page creation. Suggested prerequisite: Familiarity with PC and browsing the Internet.
