Millinery Design I: Foundations of Hat Design and Construction

Course Description

This course provides an introduction to basic millinery materials, tools and techniques, as well as common styles, design and fit guidelines. Students will design and complete 2 fascinators and 1 hat in this class, and will learn the skills necessary to make their own sinamay fascinator bases, as well as both blocked and framed buckram hats for fashion, theater and historic reproduction. Please bring lunch/snack for quick 15-minute lunch break.
