This course includes a variety of exercises focusing on increasing cardio-respiratory endurance as well as improving muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Movements set to music may include interval and circuit training, high and/or low impact movements, body sculpting, slide, cardio-dance, step aerobics and boot-camp style training. This program provides participants with a complete overview of human resources roles and responsibilities. Participants learn techniques for effectively handling daily HR and people management challenges. This course covers real-life HR issues and current, vital topics including: employment law; selecting qualified employees; compensation; orientation and training; and the performance management process.
This is an intermediate class focusing on acting for the camera. It is required that you have had at least a basic acting class before joining - such as Acting Fundamentals or equivalent. The emphasis is on camera technique as well as developing a naturalistic acting style through connection, honesty, vulnerability, and following intuitive impulses. The students’ work will be explored through exercises and scene study from film and television scripts. Some videotaping and playback will be used for critique.
Instruction on plant propagation techniques including propagation of seeds, cuttings, leaf cuttings, air rooting and division. Establish a better understanding of asexual and sexual plant propagation. Fundamentals of greenhouse construction, operation, and management.
*This class is taught asynchronously, which means there are no set meeting times and the students are able to complete the lessons and activities at their own pace through Blackboard. However, live sessions will be held as needed. The information will be posted to Blackboard Announcements.
This course will provide an overview of the disabling conditions most often encountered by human service professionals. Studies will include sensory deficits, physical, intellectual and learning disabilities as well as giftedness. Attitudes, definitions, etiologies, prevalence, treatments and service delivery systems will be discussed. Combined with credit CMSW-1323.
Survey of the world of fashion businesses. Introduction to the creation and merchandising of fashion through the study of fashion vocabulary, the fashion process, fashion publications, and career opportunities. This is an online class. This course introduces vocal techniques for the beginning to advanced-beginning singer. Students will have the opportunity to sing both individually and as part of a group. This class is ideal for anyone who desires to gain a foundational knowledge of singing, including stage and film actors. Students are encouraged to focus on the musical styles that most interest them, with support from the instructor in identifying specific song choices. By the end of the course, participants will have become better acquainted with the unique qualities of their individual voices. No prior singing experience necessary.
