Dance Composition - Improvisation
This introductory course in improvisation will investigate spontaneous problem solving as a means of generating movement for dance composition. Students will be called upon to explore and respond to various forms of stimuli in a safe and supportive learning environment within solo and group work. Combined with credit DANC-1201.
A general survey of dance forms designed to create an appreciation of the vocabulary, techniques and purposes of the creative process. Dance Composition - Choreography
This course is an examination of the principles of movement generation, phrasing, choreographic structure and motif manipulation. Integration of choreographic principles will foster the growth of personal artistic style. Combined with credit DANC-1301.
Dance Improvisation I
Introductory course designed for the beginning dance student. Improvisational dance techniques provide opportunities for students to explore and expand their personal range of creativity, movement and awareness. Dance Performance Workshop
Rehearsals and performances of dance works under the direction of faculty or guest choreographers. Combined with credit DANC-1351.
Freshman Dance Performance
Instruction in dance performance through experiential projects at the freshman level. Combined with credit DANC-1151.
History and Appreciation of Dance
An introductory survey course in the history and development of primitive, classical, and contemporary dance forms. Involves a study of stylistically authentic dances from several of the major periods based on research and films. Combined with credit DANC-2303.
