A study of guided and sequential experiences for developing aerobic based group exercise leadership skills. Opportunities provided for students to practice these skills under a professional mentor in a group setting. Integrated with college credit FITT 2331. The following course is integrated with the Exercise Science program. This course is designed to offer instruction for individuals interested in entering the workforce as a fitness professional and can be used in pursuit of the Fitness Specialist and Personal Fitness Trainer certificates or assist in preparing for national certification as a Personal Fitness Trainer. An introductory course to the fundamentals of volleyball including passing, serving, setting, and spiking. Students will learn rules and court strategy for playing the game. Study of fundamentals of Arabic: conversation, basic writing, listening and reading comprehension, vocabulary building, grammar, and culture. This course fosters understanding of Arabic-speaking people through cultural comparison and development of written and spoken communication. Combined with credit ARAB-1411. This course will focus on the Science of Teaching Reading including phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, comprehension, and fluency. Candidates will develop instruction and assessment skills and learn differentiation and support strategies for striving readers. The course is required for candidates who must pass the TEA Science of Teaching Reading assessment for licensure.
This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a
proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in USP<800> regulations and chemotherapy sterile compounding procedures. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state- of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: chemotherapy calculations, chemo LVP, and SVP prep, etc. as well as use of biological safety cabinet, barrier isolator, and other chemotherapy compounding equipment. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based activity. This is a Chemotherapy Certification Course. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. When submitting your online petition, you must scan and upload your resume or CV, proof of certification or registration, and evidence of IV certificate, to be evaluated as evidence that you meet the prerequisites. An examination of major theories of various treatment modalities. Topics include reality therapy, psychodynamics, grief therapy, person-centered therapy, rational emotive therapy, and cognitive behavioral approaches. (R) Integrated with college credit PSYT 2339. (LCDC, SW)
A study of the techniques for conducting physical fitness assessments including tests of cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength and endurance, joint flexibility, body composition, and pulmonary capacity. Topics include an introduction to electrocardiography and equipment use and maintenance. Emphasis on safety guidelines and precautions. Integrated with college credit FITT 1401.
