What Our Students Are Saying

The PC Technician Program and these classes have been extremely helpful in pursuing my CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications!

I want to thank my teachers, Simon Goodson and Michael Atkinson for not only helping me prepare and pass these exams but also helping me go above and beyond in learning about the IT Field and Tech industry in general. After these classes, I felt so much more confident in preparing for and taking these exams. I can't wait to see what I can do next!

Reed Elenz

In an industry where things are constantly evolving, I knew my previous knowledge in the field of IT wouldn't be enough to demonstrate the skills needed for employment in today's market. The PC Technician Continuing Education program at ACC not only helped me acquire the necessary knowledge and skills needed to become familiar with today's industry trends and topics, but also provided insight into real world experience as the class was taught by David Forster, an industry expert.

The course was straight forward and a vast amount of material was provided not only for certification purposes, but the material could be used to help with concepts and scenarios while on the job. While attending the program, David gave insight into his industry experience and applied that experience to topics pertaining to the exam. When it came time to get hands on with labs, he took the time and patience to explain errors and troubleshooting techniques in order to get students thinking logically. This type of teaching helped me with certifications as I was able to breakdown questions to get to an answer.

After attending the program, I was able to pass two CompTIA certifications and land a job as a Desktop Support Technician working for a large healthcare organization. Since then I've acquired three additional certifications in the industry and have moved into higher level roles within my organization.

With additional resources available and a staff that is willing to help prepare students for job placement, I highly recommend this program for those looking to advance their careers, or are looking to get a competitive edge on the competition to jump start a career in Information Technology.

David A.

Our instructor, Dave Forster is a true teacher in every essence of the word. He applies real-world challenges he has experienced, which presents great context to the subject matter. He goes above and beyond to offer multiple outside resources to supplement the class, and that in itself provides tremendous worth to us as students. Mr. Forster's career experience, comprehension, and attitude toward sharing his knowledge is incomparable. Having experienced his courses both in a classroom and online, there is no drop-off in perceived value. I found the online platform we used via ACC easy to use and operate, far exceeding my expectations. The online program gives you the tools you need to not only pass the certification exams, but also outside resources you can utilize to go to work in the industry. As a complete novice to the world of computers and the IT industry, I would highly recommend this course to a person of any skill set who is eager to learn.

Bryan Flanagan

Having basic computer skills, I decided to follow training in this field to deepen my knowledge of software and hardware. I chose PC Technician courses at Austin Community College Continuing Education. The first day of class, I was worried because I had never attended any class in the United States. I really appreciated the instructor David Forster and his patience, his availability, and his ability to answer even the most difficult questions.

After obtaining my certification, I asked the coordinator Marcela Nouzovska to help me find an internship. I really was not sure if my request will be fulfilled. However, I knocked on the right door because ACC found an internship for me at City of Austin. They offered me a permanent job after my internship. I want to thank Marcela and ACC Office of Experiential Learning - the director Sam Greer and the coordinator Kathryn Naughton - for their help with making my life better. I also want to thank the office of Student Accessibility Services for providing accommodations for my hearing disability.

I recommend ACC to deaf and ambitious people who are looking for a good place for their studies.

Bahoua Chardonnet Dedi

In pursuit of furthering my career, it was clear that I had learning gaps within certain technology fields and that I would need to acquire the necessary education to build a complete and solid knowledge base.

Although I possessed an advanced degree and several other certifications, the Continuing Education PC Technician course available at ACC provided me with the essential tools to establish a firm foundation. The instructor of our class, David, created an environment which allowed me to develop my skills and excel in my employment at a local school district.

As a result, I have since obtained the position of IT administrator within ACC. I say,"Start here. Get Here."
