Japanese Fine Arts: Haiku, Origami, Calligraphy, and...

Course Description
This is a course on Japanese fine arts offered by the Continuing Education division at ACC. No knowledge of the Japanese language is required. The course is designed to introduce students to Japanese culture by way of its most important art forms. Students explore reading/writing haiku poems, folding origami, learning some kanji (Chinese characters), practicing calligraphy using those kanji and learning about and playing the Taiko drum in order to expand an appreciation of Japanese culture and language.

People gravitate to technology to solve problems. Python is a programming language that lets you work quickly to solve these problems. If you are interested in learning Python, this is the class for you. We will emphasize learning the basics of programming using Python, so you can leverage the reference book to solve real-world issues on your own upon course completion. Suggested prerequisite: General computing knowledge and a desire to learn programming with Python.
Introduction to Managing Projects
Course Description
This introductory level short course in project management helps to prepare students with little-to-no formal project management training to run small, simple projects in their work environment. The emphasis is on introducing the terminology, and the basic tools & techniques for starting and running simple projects in a hands-on way, with an interactive format of in-class exercises and examples using a custom workbook binder with step-by-step guidance (included with the course fee - no other textbooks required). No prior experience with managing projects is expected, so it is an excellent introduction to the subject for team leaders and participants who need to get started quickly. Students will leave the course with a model project that they contributed to, which can serve as a template for initiating and planning real-world projects in their environments. A+ Certification is a CompTIA-sponsored testing program that certifies the competency of entry-level (6 months experience) computer service technicians. Major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers and publications back the program. A+ certification signifies that the certified individual possesses the knowledge and skills essential for a successful entry-level (6 months experience) computer service technician, as defined by experts from companies across the industry. The A+ Training course at Austin Community College is a 128-hour Two Part program including lecture, labs, and exam preparation. The course will prepare students for the CompTIA A+ Essentials certification examination. Prerequisite: A desire to learn. Course Description
Continuation of GERM 1411 with more advanced conversation, basic writing, listening and reading comprehension, vocabulary building, grammar, and culture. This course fosters deeper understanding of German-speaking people through cultural comparison and development of written and spoken communication. Students must have completed a first semester college German course of at least four semester hours with a grade of C or better, or have equivalent credit by examination.
