Course Description

This course is an overview of applicable regulatory standards and best practices related to aseptic technique in the education, training, and management of personnel in the sterile compounding environment. The course will provide an update of USP<797>; and related standards, as well as the policies and procedures for conducting ACPE accredited continuing education. This train-the-trainer course will educate and train pharmacists and technicians in requirements related to the sterile compounding environment, personnel training and conduct, environmental and personnel competency testing, regulatory compliance, and documentation. This course will provide the framework necessary for the learner to teach sterile compounding and aseptic technique (SCAT) to pharmacists and technicians in a variety of practice settings, using the Austin Community College ACPE Accredited SCAT course, PHRA 1091 (48 hours, 4.8 CEUs) or PHRA 1045 (64 hours, 6.4 CEUs).
