2025 Fall Semester Course Registration Begins May 12th. Learn more. NEW! An Improved Registration System is Coming June 18th!

Seton Hospital Training Courses

The following courses are designed for, and only eligible for those individuals associated with Seton Hospital. First time ACC students need to call (512) 223-7542 for registration assistance.

Electrocardiography: Introduction

Fundamentals of the anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, dynamics of cardiac function as it relates to mechanics and electrical elements of the heartbeat rate and rhythm. 12-lead EKG is used to identify lethal and dangerous life threatening dysrhythmias. Includes role of caregiver in reporting and participating in "code" situations. Designed for the unlicensed employee in a clinic or general nursing unit. Prerequisite: If the student has no previous EKG reading experience, it is strongly recommend that this course be taken before the Telemetry and Monitoring Skills course.

Aseptic Techniques & Skills

Skills applying sterile and medical asepsis to the acute care setting.

Telemetry and Monitoring

Designed specifically for the Registered Nurse and available for the patient care technician assigned to monitor the telemetry unit. Includes a foundational understanding of the heart, the implications of decreased cardiac output, interpretation of electrical activity with an emphasis on recognition of common and potentially "lethal" dysrhythmias. (16 hours CNE Available). For students with no previous EKG reading experience, it is strongly recommended that they take Electrocardiography-Introduction (ECRD 1011) prior to taking Telemetry and Monitoring.

Basic Phlebotomy Skills

Skills in the safe collection, labeling and handling of blood specimens obtained from the adult, adolescent and infant by the Patient Care Technician for the purpose of clinical laboratory analysis. Includes aseptic collection methods for skin puncture, vacutainer and butterfly.
