A survey of dances from different cultures, their histories, and their influences on contemporary dance and society. Cultural origins, significance, motivations and techniques will be explored experientially. No previous dance experience necessary. Integrated with credit DANC-1305. Integrated Pest Management Basics for Sustainable...
This course will discuss local agricultural pests and their impact on crops in Central Texas. Topics will include building and maintaining healthy soil, plant and insect biological cycles , identification and diagnosis of pest problems, and the selection, implementation and theory of integrated pest management.
*This class is taught asynchronously, which means there are no set meeting times and the students are able to complete the lessons and activities at their own pace through Blackboard. However, live sessions will be held as needed. The information will be posted to Blackboard Announcements.
A study of the techniques for conducting physical fitness assessments including tests of cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength and endurance, joint flexibility, body composition, and pulmonary capacity. Topics include an introduction to electrocardiography and equipment use and maintenance. Emphasis on safety guidelines and precautions. Integrated with college credit FITT 1401. TThe following course is integrated with the Exercise Science program. This course is designed to offer instruction for individuals interested in entering the workforce as a fitness professional and can be used in pursuit of the Fitness Specialist and Personal Fitness Trainer certificates or assist in preparing for national certification as a Personal Fitness Trainer. The goal of this class is to understand the origins, major concepts, and current issues of sustainability in local and global agriculture. Topics include the economic, environmental, and social aspects of sustainability in agroecosystems. Students evaluate the environmental impact of conventional agriculture and the solutions that sustainable agriculture provides. Students will also examine the economic and social issues in agriculture and different pathways to increase profitability and social equity for the farmer. This course includes case studies and field trips to connect principles of sustainable agriculture to local farming systems. Integrated with credit AGCR-1371.
This course is designed to improve the singing voice and develop the ability to sing successfully in front of others. Specific vocal exercises will be given to strengthen the essential elements of singing, as well as information on the basic anatomy, physiology, and care of the voice. Students will also have performance opportunities in a supportive environment to develop confidence and expression of text.
Provides training in the specific techniques necessary for ensemble performance. Emphasizes both ensemble and solo singing. Repertoire varies according to emphasis. Combined with credit MUEN-2126.
Fundamentals of pharmacology including recognition, calculation, labeling, packaging, and administration of common veterinary drugs, biologics, and therapeutic agents. Discussion of normal and abnormal responses to these agents. Prerequisite: Prior to registration for this course, applicants are required to complete an online orientation and meet with the program coordinator.
