Course Description

This is a fast paced course that will expose experienced Linux/Unix technicians and administrators to the tools and strategy needed to prepare for and attempt the demanding and prestigious Red Hat Linux Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification. This course is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (RHEL7). This course is a deep dive into the RHEL system that covers advanced system administration topics. RHEL7 has brought significant changes to essential parts of the Linux Operating System, and this course is in line with those developments. Additionally, the scope of the RHCSA exam has changed as well. This class will take an in-depth look at these changes using the requirements of the exam as a list of learning objectives. The course is taught by lecture, demonstration, and direct hands on experience. A strong emphasis will be placed upon best practice system administration that will carry over to the everyday work environment as well as exam preparation. Prerequisites: General knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems, and TCP/IP networking basics. One year of experience using Linux or other UNIX-like operating systems, personally or professionally. Familiarity with a command line editor such as Vim (preferred), nano, etc. (NOTE that the command line will be used extensively throughout this course as preparation for the exam. The practice virtual machines used in this class will not be GUI capable.
