Study of physical and chemical soil deterioration and loss, water conservation, and principles for protection and maintenance of these resources. Topics include plant/water relationships, water conservation methods, basic terrace engineering principles, sediment loss, basic grazing and forage management and land use plans. Integrated with credit AGCR-2313.
Team Building: Teamwork and Small Group Communication
Small Group Communication applies theories and techniques of group communication to the practices of group processes and interaction. This course examines small group theories and principles as they relate to group structure, interactions, and process improvement for the purpose of building and sustaining teams in organizations. Topics of study include team dynamics, trust and collaboration, climate, conflict resolution, norms, leadership, and the role of the individual in the team.
Instruction in the intermediate techniques and concepts associated with jazz dance. Prerequisites: BSKX-5047 or DANC-1247 or instructor approval. Integrated with credit DANC-2247. For questions regarding dance classes, please contact Catherine Solaas csolaas@austincc.edu.
The study of physical and financial office practices and marketing. Includes ethical practices for massage therapists as established by law or regulatory agency. Meets the minimum 45-contact-hour requirement for licensure for Massage. Students learn scope of practice, ethical standards, policies and regulations that affect a massage business. Topics include establishing self-care strategies and successful therapeutic relationships; forming professional alliances; attracting particular markets using sales, marketing and retention strategies; and how to apply financial, administrative and insurance processes to the massage profession. Students will create business plan outlines for massage practices. Prerequisite: Completed program application.

Prepares students for the Network+ Certification examination. A beginning course in computer networks with focus in networking fundamentals, terminology, hardware, software, and network architecture. A study of local/wide area networking concepts and networking installations and operations. Suggested prerequisite: CPMT 1072 A+ Essentials and CPMT 2045 A+ Practical Applications or A+ certification or equivalent knowledge. This course is for those who have had previous acting training, such as Acting Fundamentals. Using scenes (and monologues), the focus will be on strengthening text analysis and following inner impulses to create a powerful need to speak. The work in class will enliven the imagination and increase emotional availability and vulnerability for the actor. This class can be taken more than once, as it is different each time with new students, and new scenes to explore.
