This course combines a two-day live workshop, along with pre-course reading, and significant online/distance learning (DIL) coursework, and a
proctored, written examination, to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in USP<800> regulations and chemotherapy sterile compounding procedures. All course activities are designed to be completed within a 12-week semester. The two-day, hands-on workshop is held in our state- of-the-art training facility in Austin, Texas. All other coursework is completed online using our Blackboard Learning Management System. Hands-on training includes: chemotherapy calculations, chemo LVP, and SVP prep, etc. as well as use of biological safety cabinet, barrier isolator, and other chemotherapy compounding equipment. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 64 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion and upload of ACPE credit of 6.4 CEUs (64 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based activity. This is a Chemotherapy Certification Course. Prerequisites: Certified (PTCB) pharmacy technician and/or registered pharmacy technician (technicians practicing in states that do not require certification or registration will be considered on a case-by-case basis); or registered pharmacist or pharmacy intern with ≥ 1 year of pharmacy experience and ≥ 6 months of direct sterile compounding experience. Completion of ASHP/ACPE accredited or ACPE accredited IV certificate comprised of ≥ 40 hours (4.0 CEUs) for technicians or ≥ 20 hours (2.0 CEUs) for pharmacists, of which ≥ 50% of coursework was comprised of direct sterile compounding experience. Preferred: Completion of ACC’s Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique (SCAT) course PHRA 1091; ≥ two years of pharmacy experience and ≥ 1 year of direct sterile compounding experience. When submitting your online petition, you must scan and upload your resume or CV, proof of certification or registration, and evidence of IV certificate, to be evaluated as evidence that you meet the prerequisites. In this course, students will learn to use standard English grammar in writing developed academic compositions. Students work on developing effective sentences and using them in their writing. Students are exposed to the modes of classification, cause/effect, process analysis, and argument. This course is designed to further prepare ESOL student to handle the writing tasks they will encounter in college-credit level courses and the workplace. Integrated with credit ESOL-0373. To register for Writing 3 (COMX 4073) you must have (1) a passing grade of C or higher in Writing 2 (COMX 4072) or placement into Writing 3 (COMX 4073) on the ESOL assessment test and (2) a passing grade of C or higher in Grammar 2 (COMX 4096) or placement into Grammar 3 (COMX 4097) or higher on the ESOL assessment test.
This class is appropriate for anyone who gives presentations or performs in front of others, regardless of profession. In a group workshop setting across five weeks, you can find your calm, assertive center, enabling you to be more fully present on any stage - so that the story you want to communicate can be all it is meant to be.
Tap into your creative side and discover how fun and easy it is to construct beautiful works of art with mosaics. Students will learn the basics of glass mosaics including cutting, layout/design, affixing the materials, grouting, and finishing in this introductory hands-on class. Each student will complete one project. No previous experience is required. All tools, materials, and necessary equipment will be provided.
Designed for advanced ESOL students, this course emphasizes speaking and listening to formal American English used in college and work settings. There will be continued practice on academic listening and note-taking skills as well as exposure to real-life formal talks and college lectures. Class activities include leading and participating in group discussions, listening to lectures and taking notes, giving presentations and speeches and participating in debates. This course may be repeated for up to 6 hours of credit. Integrated with credit ESOL-0304.

The A+ Training course at Austin Community College is a 128-hour Two Part program including lecture, labs, and exam preparation. The course will prepare students for the CompTIA A+ Practical Applications certification examination. Suggested prerequisites: CPMT 2045 A+ Essentials or equivalent experience. Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use. This course satisfies OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.151
