This course combines a two-day, live workshop, along with online activities designed to train pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in basic, non-sterile, extemporaneous compounding procedures. Hands-on training includes: capsule preparation, ointments, creams, trochees, suppositories, use of mortar and pestle, digital scale, graduated cylinders, hotplate, ointment mill, and other compounding equipment. The total estimated time required to complete this course is 48 hours (live workshop combined with home-study); may be spread out over a period of from 2-weeks up to one-semester, depending on course section. CPE activity completers will receive a frame-able certificate of completion , and upload of ACPE credit of 4.8 CEUs (48.0 hours) into CPE monitor. This is a Practice-Based activity. This is a non-sterile compounding certification course. Prerequisites: Must be a certified (PTCB) Pharmacy Technician; or registered Pharmacist/ registered pharmacy technician; or have completed an ASHP/ACPE Accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program; or have a minimum of six month of pharmacy experience. This course may be converted to college credit. Integrated with credit PHRA-2271.
