Introduction to Digital Photography

Course Description
The What and The How. The What: How does a camera work The basic camera operation and controls: shutter speed, aperture, ISO etc. and familiarize ourselves with the technical and aesthetic process of making photographs. Which includes: composition, context, obvious and subtle themes, and subject. The How: How to make simple and dynamic photographs with five in-class projects and critiques to learn from each other. A point-and-shoot camera will work, but a camera with manual controls will give the best opportunity for learning how to get the desired results. The student must complete four out of the five projects, and all students are required to attend the first class to earn the certificate.
Advanced American Pronunciation

Course Description
This course practices the ways in which spoken English differs from written with emphasis on the strategies English speakers use to make their message very clear for listeners. Time is spent learning how English sounds that tend to challenge non-native speakers are produced, and how native speakers produce the characteristic rhythm and intonation patterns of the language. To register for Advanced American Pronunciation (COMX 4009) you must have a passing grade of C or higher in Oral Communication 2 (COMX 4002) or placement into Oral Communication 3 (COMX 4003) or higher on the ESOL assessment test.
Martial Arts Aikido

Aikido is a no punch, no kick art of self-defense. Using Aikido's throwing and pinning arts properly, an attack can be neutralized without inflicting serious injury. At its higher levels, it is an effective discipline for the development, integration, and utilization of all human powers-physical, mental and spiritual. Meditation 101: Reduce Stress & Cultivate Inner Peace

Course Description
Discover the transformative power of meditation in this four-part, online class series.
Students will learn about the science and benefits of regular meditation practice, including stress reduction, improved emotional balance, and enhanced physical well-being. Participants will receive a personalized Primordial Sound Mantra, calculated from their birth date, time, and location during a private one-on-one ceremony. Using this individualized mantra, you’ll be guided step-by-step in developing a daily meditation practice that promotes calm, clarity, and overall health.
Upon completion, participants are invited to join an ongoing monthly online meditation group for continued support, practice, and community connection.
