The HVAC program has been specially designed to deliver the skills you need in a short period of time so you can enter this high growth occupation quickly. Our hands-on program includes the following courses. The courses must be taken in the order listed below. This program is 216 total hours. Basic Electricity for HVAC - Principles of electricity as required by HVAC, including proper use of test equipment, electrical circuits, and component theory and operation. Refrigeration Principles - This is an introductory course to the HVAC industry. The course will give an introduction to the refrigeration cycle, heat transfer theory, temperature/pressure relationship, refrigerant handling, refrigeration components, and safety. EPA Recovery Certification Preparation - This certification training class focuses on recovery, recycle, and reclaim of HVAC refrigerant. Instruction includes a review of EPA guidelines for refrigerant recovery and recycling during the installation, service, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems. During the last day of this class, students will challenge the EPA Universal Examination.
Introduction to Python

People gravitate to technology to solve problems. Python is a programming language that lets you work quickly to solve these problems. If you are interested in learning Python, this is the class for you. We will emphasize learning the basics of programming using Python, so you can leverage the reference book to solve real-world issues on your own upon course completion. Suggested prerequisite: General computing knowledge and a desire to learn programming with Python.
Practical and didactic survey of the profession of veterinary technology with emphasis on basic techniques, handling and care of domestic animals, and ethical and professional requirements. Class requires participation in lectures and clinical classes. Prerequisite: Prior to registration for this course, applicants are required to complete an online orientation and meet with the program coordinator.
Learn how to effectively apply the elements and methods of Six Sigma. Understand how more than 25 tools and methods relate to the DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, and control) model. Determine the relationship of basic statistics to Six Sigma and learn about the Six Sigma business case, including strategic planning, the voice of the customer (VOC), quality function deployment (QFD), benchmarking, and financial investment methods. Discover how to use brainstorming; Pareto charts, and critical quality help define processes, problems, and opportunities. Master the use of other key tools such as cause and effect diagrams, check sheets, scatter diagrams, failure mode and effects analysis (FEMA), and force field analysis.
In this course you will learn how to apply the DMAIC model each step of the way. You will learn how to define, plan, implement, and close a Six Sigma project. You will also know how to use process capability and how to apply lean thinking. You will understand the basics of advanced Six Sigma tools.
This course will help you prepare for the internationally recognized Six Sigma Black Belt and Quality Manager exams offered by the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
This introductory level short course in project management introduces students with little-to-no formal project management training to the professional project management framework applied to run projects in their work environment. The emphasis is on introducing the framework and terminology, teamwork and organization concepts, and basic tools and techniques for starting and running simple projects through in-class examples using a custom workbook (included with the course fee - no other textbooks required). Little to no prior experience with managing projects is expected, so it is an excellent introduction to the subject for new team leaders and participants who need to get started quickly and expect to pursue professional certification later. Students will leave the course with an understanding of professional level project managemenat, and a model project, which can serve as a template for initiating and planning real-world projects in their environments. This course can be taught in 4 separate evening meetings (in one week), or in a 2-day morning/afternoon format, both onsite and online. It is not a prerequisite for, but can serve as an introductory step to ACC’s professional certification program consisting of the deeper and wider team-based experiential 48-hour BMGT 1009 Applied Project Management foundations course, followed by the BMGT 1040 PMP/CAPM Exam Prep course to prepare students for PMI, CompTIA, and other professional certification exams.

CompTIA Security+ Exam SY0-701 provides a basic overview of General Security Concepts, Security Architecture, Security Operations, Security Program Management & Oversight, and Threats, Vulnerabilities & Mitigations. The course builds a firm foundation for more advanced security certifications/roles. Course material is targeted toward an Information Technology (IT) professional who has networking and administrative skills in TCP/IP networks and familiarity with a networkable operating system (such as NetWare, UNIX/Linux, or Microsoft). This course enables students to begin or further a career in Cybersecurity by acquiring a foundational knowledge of security topics; prepare for the CompTIA Security+ Certification examination; or use Security+ as the foundation for advanced security certifications or career roles. There is a primary textbook which will be required. Suggested prerequisites: one to three years IT experience, CompTIA A+ or Network+ certifications, or equivalent knowledge. This is an ONLINE course requiring a stable internet connection, and a current web browser. Audio is provided via computer or telephone line (a dial-in phone number will be available as an alternate audio connection). A computer web-camera option is preferred but not required. Development of the basic communication skills necessary to develop an effective helping relationship with clients. Topics include counseling techniques such as intake interviewing, relationship building, problem identification and resolution. Emphasis on importance of effective oral communications. Integrated with college credit SCWK 2311.
